Autohaus Storage is proud to present this striking 1963 Ford Thunderbird 390 High Performance, finished in Bright Red with a black vinyl roof and black upholstery. A true icon of early-1960s American motoring, the fourth-generation Thunderbird blends bold jet-age styling with a proven big-block 6.4 litre V8 from Ford’s legendary Ford-Edsel family.

Imported into Queensland during the 1970s, the car was acquired by a long-term owner in the 1990s and treated to an extensive restoration in the mid-2000s. Works included a fully rebuilt 390ci FE-series V8, new vinyl roof, refreshed interior, and repaint in its current Bright Red finish.

In 2016, it was purchased in Collie and gifted as a retirement present to the current owner’s father, who had previously owned a Thunderbird years earlier. It was seldom driven, always garaged and covered, and clearly cherished. Following a short period of storage due to health reasons, the vehicle was recommissioned and enjoyed on weekend drives and Cars & Coffee events.

Under current ownership, the Thunderbird has been upgraded with front disc brakes and a matching master cylinder. It also features 72-spoke wire wheels with whitewall tyres, enhancing its classic stance and period-correct presentation. While the Ford presents well overall, it would benefit from a small number of cosmetic tidy-up items to take it to the next level.

The 390ci V8 is paired with an automatic transmission and delivers the smooth, torquey performance these personal luxury coupes are known for. With its long bonnet, formal roofline and unmistakable presence, this Thunderbird remains an impressive and enjoyable cruiser and is now ready for its next custodian.
