Offered for sale is this Ford Mustang GT Convertible built in San Jose, California, on April 13, 1966. A rare and highly sought-after K-Code High Performance model, it is finished in striking Candy Apple Red with a Black Crinkle Vinyl Pony interior. The panel and paintwork are in fantastic condition, while the upholstery remains beautifully preserved, and the convertible top operates seamlessly.

Under the bonnet lies the coveted 289 cubic inch HiPo V8 engine, producing 271 horsepower. This high-performance engine has been recently rebuilt and has travelled fewer than 1,000 kilometres since reconditioning. A five-speed manual gearbox has been installed to enhance drivability, though the original four-speed manual transmission is included with the sale. The Ford also benefits from the factory installed limited-slip differential and is currently fitted with 15x7 styled steel wheels, while the original restored 14x5.5 wheels are also included.

The Mustang has been meticulously maintained over the years, with ownership records dating back to 2001. Originally residing in California, it changed hands in 2001 before imported into Western Australia in 2006 by the Chairman of the Mustang Club. He maintained ownership until 2014 showing just 49,000 miles, at which point the car was transferred to its current lady owner, who has carefully preserved and maintained this exceptional muscle car.

Adding to its provenance, the Mustang was displayed in the 2008 WA Mustang Nationals and is accompanied with an extensive history file containing receipts for parts and maintenance dating back to 2001, reflecting a no-expense-spared approach to ownership and preservation. Also included is a 1966 Mustang Owner's Manual, along with a Ford High Performance Equipment Manual.

The K-Code Mustang was a special high-performance edition produced in limited numbers between 1965 and 1967, with only 13,214 units ever built. This is a rare opportunity to own one of Ford’s most desirable muscle cars, offering an exceptional blend of classic American styling and factory performance pedigree.
