This Australian-delivered, right-hand-drive example retains many of the period features that make the early "Roundie" 2002 such a sought-after classic today. The current Perth owner has enjoyed the 2002 for the past five years, having acquired it from a long-term lady owner who purchased the BMW in Busselton in early 2015.

During her ownership, records show in excess of $30,000 was invested in restoration and maintenance, including a comprehensive engine rebuild completed at 110,406 miles. The rebuild included new pistons and rings, an overhauled cylinder head, polished crankshaft, new timing chain, valve stem seals, water pump and oil pump.

​

The engine block and transmission were refinished, and numerous engine bay components were cleaned, restored or renewed during reassembly, resulting in a presentation that reflects the care and attention invested in preserving the vehicle.

​

At the same time, the exterior was repainted in Riviera Blue, while the interior received new carpet, roof lining and sound deadening throughout the doors, floor and boot area. Its appearance is further enhanced by period-style Superlite alloy wheels and a rear Venetian blind, both complementing the car's unmistakable 1970s character.

Retaining its matching-numbers engine and factory automatic transmission, this well-presented and extensively documented example offers an excellent opportunity to acquire one of BMW's most iconic sports sedans. Accompanying the vehicle are two keys, a reprinted BMW 2002 Owner's Handbook, extensive restoration and maintenance records, and its original steel wheels and chrome hubcaps.
