1971 Jaguar XJ12

Early Production Series 1 | Collectible & Restored | Long Term Ownership

Autohaus Storage is pleased to present this 1971 Jaguar XJ12, finished in elegant Sable Brown with refurbished Biscuit leather upholstery. This highly desirable Series 1, presents in outstanding condition following an extensive, six-figure, no-expense-spared restoration. Notably, its chassis number 1P1168BW places this Jaguar very early in the 1971 XJ12 Series 1 production run and may be among the first few hundred XJ12s ever built, further enhancing its rarity and provenance.

The current Perth enthusiast purchased the Jaguar in March 2017 from well-known Jaguar specialist Murray Scoble of Peninsula Jag Engine Centre (QLD). Post sale, Murray was tasked with undertaking a full engine and transmission rebuild at 64,101 miles, with the Jaguar having travelled only 66,958 miles since completion. As an early Series 1 featuring the carburetted V12 paired with the 3-speed automatic, this example represents the first and most desirable generation of Jaguar’s legendary XJ saloon.

During restoration, the body was fully stripped, the engine removed, and the shell repainted in its rich factory Sable Brown by renowned Western Australian specialists Precision Panel & Paint. The interior was entirely renewed by upholstery experts Trimcare, including seats, door cards, soundproofing, underfelt, carpet, timber dash and top, black dashboard, and all new seals.

The Jaguar’s suspension has been expertly fettled by specialists Wilkinson Suspension Centre, with the front and rear suspension, shocks, coils and bushes all replaced or restored. A rare and desirable feature of this XJ12 is its aftermarket air-conditioning system mounted in the boot, delivering cold air through the rear parcel shelf with return air drawn through the converted left and right speaker housings.

Accompanying the car is an extensive folder of invoices documenting the restoration and the large number of genuine new parts sourced during the rebuild. Additional features include a leather-bound tool kit and retro-style stereo system. Following completion of the restoration, the Jaguar was inspected and pit-passed in July 2019 and has been sparingly enjoyed by the current owner since.

This early V12 XJ12 represents one of the most desirable iterations of the model. Given the significant time, expertise and cost invested, this Jaguar offers exceptional value for its next custodian and is available today for a fraction of the restoration cost.

Enquire now to arrange an inspection or request further details (including the PPSR report).
