Autohaus Storage presents this 2001 HSV VXII Clubsport R8, Build Number 087, finished in HSV Racing Green Pearl with Anthracite Black upholstery and R8 deep-bolstered sports seats. Built by HSV in October 2001, this late-series VXII R8 combines the sought-after 6 speed manual drivetrain, HSV’s performance-focused suspension and brake package, and a comprehensively rebuilt LS1 V8 - now producing approximately 400 hp and 685 Nm.

A high-quality, enthusiast-specified engine build was undertaken by the previous owner, with build photos and dyno sheets available. Overview of the engine build:

• LS1 block bored +0.020" with torque-plate honing

• Standard LS1 pistons (+0.020")

• Rings & bearings replaced

• ARP hardware: main stud kit, rod bolts, crank bolt, water-pump bolts

• Rollmaster dual timing sprocket & chain

• LS2-spec 234 cylinder heads (from VZ HSV 6.0)

• Ferrea valves & Crow double valve springs (150 psi)

• Genuine LS7 lifters

• VCM brass trunnion upgrade

• Chrome-moly pushrods

• VCM710 camshaft with new cam bearings

• Replacement of major engine sensors and switches

 

The 6-speed transmission has been upgraded with 3.9 ratio gears (improved acceleration) and a Xtreme ceramic single plate clutch has been fitted. A Manta Big Boy twin 3” stainless steel exhaust is installed with 1 7/8” extractors and high flow cats.

Delivered new in Western Australia, the Clubsport retains its original HSV build plate, original centre console toolkit and HSV leather compendium with full books. Subtle upgrades include Autometer oil pressure and water temperature gauges as well as a Pioneer double-DIN 6.2-inch touchscreen head unit.

Recently professionally detailed inside and out, this R8 presents extremely well and delivers a strong, responsive driveline with an exceptional exhaust note and sharp throttle feel, all presented in one of the most distinctive and visually striking HSV colours of its era.
